Hancock County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. The sheriff, jail, city police department, court, or corrections agency that holds a record must answer those questions directly.

Where to Request Hancock Records

The main county contact for custody questions and sheriff-held records is:

Hancock County Sheriff's Office98 Buchanan Street
Carthage, Illinois 62321
217-357-2115
Fax: 217-357-3035
Records and non-emergency route. No separate current records-unit hours were posted, so confirm before visiting.

Use the Sheriff documents and forms page and its FOIA request form. The county FOIA page says requests must be written and gives a routing path if the wrong officer is named. The county home page is the broader government directory. Ask for an existing record, a defined date range, and a booking photo when and if available.

5 ILCS 140/3 and 5 ILCS 140/6 describe ordinary FOIA timing, electronic format, and copying rules. They do not guarantee a current roster or a public booking photograph.

  • For a booking record or photo, use the Hancock County home page for the full search and request path.
  • For a current county custody question, contact the sheriff or jail directly. The public sources reviewed did not expose a live roster.
  • For a Hamilton arrest, use the Hamilton Police contact and confirm its current city records officer.
  • For a Carthage arrest, confirm the police address before mailing because published sources conflict. The city police phone lead is 217-357-2245.
  • For a Warsaw arrest, confirm the city police contact through the city or sheriff because directory addresses and phones differ.
  • For a court case or disposition, use the Hancock Circuit Clerk and Judici.
  • For a state, federal, immigration, or alert question, use IDOC, the BOP locator, ICE, or VINE according to the custody stage. The U.S. Marshals Service guidance explains that it does not publish a public prisoner-photo history.
