Information You Send
Search queries
A name, location, or other term typed into a search widget is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Hancock County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those terms on its own system through the page markup. The provider may apply its own privacy policy and retention rules.
Messages and submissions
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the message and contact details may be kept long enough to answer it, maintain a record of the exchange, or address a legal need. They are not shared outside the operating organization unless the visitor asks for it, a service provider must process the message, or disclosure is legally required.
Technical Data and Cookies
Routine page requests can produce technical details such as:
- IP address or a shortened network identifier.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them.
- The referring page, when a browser supplies one.
- Request timestamps and basic error information.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies or similar storage may help measure how visitors use the pages, remember a setting, support a search partner, or show advertising. Browser controls can block or delete cookies. Some features may behave differently when they are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected information may be used to:
- Keep the pages available and improve their speed.
- Send search requests to the selected partner service.
- See which topics and links are useful to visitors.
- Find errors, abuse, and technical problems.
- Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor.
Information is not used to create official Hancock County arrest, jail, court, or corrections records. Those records remain with the agencies named on the public-record pages.
Links to Other Services
The pages link to the Hancock County Sheriff, jail information, city police contacts, Judici, IDOC, federal locators, VINE, local news outlets, archives, statutes, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination controls its own privacy practices, cookies, data use, and retention.
Advertising or search partners may track activity across more than one site on their own systems. Their notices and choices apply to that activity, not this policy alone.
Who May Receive Data
Hancock County Busted Mugshots does not sell personal data as a standalone mailing list. Information may nevertheless reach:
- Search partners that process terms entered into their tools.
- Analytics or hosting providers that help operate the pages.
- Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order or other lawful duty requires disclosure.
Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information under the operator's control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so the site cannot promise that transmission, storage, or a third-party service will be breach-proof. Visitors should avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through ordinary contact channels.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal data, a parent or guardian may use the Contact Us route to ask that it be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
Your Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity checks, a visitor may ask:
- What personal information is held about the visitor.
- That an inaccurate detail be corrected.
- That information be erased when there is no need or legal reason to keep it.
- That certain processing or partner communications stop.
Requests should identify the information at issue without sending more personal data than needed. Some records are held by a search partner, government agency, court, or publisher and must be addressed to that custodian.
Policy Changes
This policy may be revised when the service, partners, technology, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the visitor accepts the revised practices to the extent allowed by law.
